We started the group meeting with a look at transistors and integrated circuits. Transistors act as electrical switches or amplifiers and are a fundamental component in electronics. Integrated circuits are miniaturized circuits that we can include in our own circuit designs, which saves us space and time.
This week we worked on Project 10 – Zoetrope which uses an integrated circuit known as an ‘H-Bridge’ to reverse the polarity of a DC motor and allow us to create old-fashioned moving images that can run in two directions. It was a fiddley project and the most complicated circuit we have built yet. Well done everyone for getting it working!
